Château Taffard de Blaignan was first mentioned in the 1868 edition of the Feret guide, in a chapter on Bordeaux and its wines. Production, then, was approximately 2000 hectolitres, with production measured in barrels of 9 hectolitres each. The most important market was Holland which imported the wines for their elegance, beautiful colour and exquisite bouquet.
Château Taffard de Blaignan was bought in 1990 by the family-owned and family-run SA Vignobles Cadillac. Intensive restoration of the buildings commenced immediately upon acquisition, ending only in 1993. There are two main areas to the Château : the cellars, the winery and the tasting rooms to the north covering 930 m2, and the administration offices and bottling line to the south covering 460 m2. Between these two areas is our « technical area » which was installed in 1999 to control vinification temperatures. Behind the buildings to the east is a big storage area for various pieces of equipment and other material.
